SUNRISE Launches the BlackBerry Solution in Switzerland
Zürich, Switzerland - Sunrise today announced the launch of the BlackBerry® solution from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) in Switzerland. The solution is available immediately to Sunrise business customers and will be extended to consumers by the end of 2009.
For the first time, Sunrise business customers in Switzerland can enjoy the benefits of the BlackBerry® solution. The BlackBerry solution combines state of the art smartphones, software and services to allow easy wireless access to email, phone, calendar, Internet, Intranet, multimedia and other business and lifestyle applications, for people on the go. The launch of the BlackBerry solution is part of Sunrise’s activities to increase its offering to large, medium and small enterprises. The offerings are available immediately for large and SME companies. Later this year Sunrise will extend the BlackBerry solution to small office / home office (SoHo) users and consumers.
Offerings for companies with their own messaging infrastructure
For customers that manage their own email servers, Sunrise will offer BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, which tightly integrates with IBM® Lotus® Domino®, Microsoft® Exchange or Novell GroupWise®. It offers advanced security and IT policy controls and enables push-based email and access to corporate applications, such as CRM. BlackBerry push mail technology automatically delivers messages to the user and includes wireless synchronisation of calendar and contacts as well as access to the company address book. Sunrise will provide additional services to business customers through partners for server installations, support, training, consulting and migrations.
The following tariffs from Sunrise are available for BlackBerry Enterprise Server users:
- “Business connect” for BlackBerry: includes 250 MB of monthly data volume per user, which is by far enough for email and accessing the Internet on a regular basis.
- “Business connect flex” for BlackBerry: offered to large customers on a monthly pooled data basis. Instead of an individual monthly data volume, users draw their usage from a company data pool, which compensates for usage fluctuations.
Offerings for companies without their own messaging infrastructure
For customers without an in-house mail server, Sunrise is offering a hosted BlackBerry® Enterprise Server solution. Customers who use Sunrise Office (the Sunrise Hosted Exchange service) can enhance their existing mail solution with the wireless functionality and benefits of the BlackBerry solution.
Small companies and individuals may select Sunrise webmail for BlackBerry, based on the BlackBerry® Internet Service, which will be available later this year. It allows users to access up to 10 POP3/IMAP email accounts, including most popular ISP accounts such as Sunrise Mail, Google Mail and Yahoo! Mail, from a single device.
“There is strong ongoing demand for the BlackBerry solution in Switzerland. We are looking forward to offer customers this exceptional solution with the best price to performance ratio in the country,” said René Fischer, COO Business Customers, Sunrise.
Handsets and Prices
At launch, Sunrise will offer the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 and the BlackBerry® Bold™ smartphones. Details on availability and service prices are listed on www.sunrise.ch/blackberry. Sunrise Office is described on http://www.sunriseoffice.ch.
